El Colorado
Central Andes, Chile
After an 8am pick up from your hotel in Santiago, we head out of the city towards the Andes Mountains. We arrive at the Colorado river canyon where our friendly, well-trained horses are waiting for us and begin our ascent through stunning landscapes of green vegetation, ancient trees and craggy hills crowning the valley. Finally we arrive at the plunging rock face at the very top and see (depending on the season) a wide variety of waterfalls, streams and fresh mountain springs. If we are lucky we see condors soaring overhead, with wingspans of up to 3 meters, and other birds including yellow Cometocinos.
After 2 hours riding through this spectacular landscape we arrive at our destination, Las Ramadas Plateau. Perched in the heart of El Colorado valley, this small mountain oasis is home to a small cabin complete with bathrooms and a terrace, where we enjoy a typical Chilean barbeque (vegetarian options available). We enjoy the food, the great view and a little bit of rest time before riding back down to the canyon entrance and being driven back to our hotel.
