Santiago is Latin America’s Most Bike Friendly City according to HostelBookers 2012 Try this sunset ride through Santiago’s uptown with us and we will show you why Santiago is proud to be #1.
We go against – both literally and figuratively – the traffic on its regular night bike route. From the outskirts of beautiful uptown Vitacura, ride with our guide as we use over 10 kilometers of Santiago´s park system to explore the neighborhoods of Las Condes, El Golf and Providencia.
With Santiago in the height of evening rush hour at 19:30, our green bicycle tour through the parks and bicycle-friendly avenues provides a safe and relaxing way to watch this nocturnal city awaken. We pause every 20 minutes to point out the political and historical highlights of Santiago´s under-appreciated upper side. Pedaling by early 20th century mansions, glass and steel skyscrapers and through beautiful green parks makes this outing unforgettable. Finally we retire to one of Santiago’s best hole-in-the-wall bars for Pisco Sours, cold brews, and tapas style snacks.
Be sure to ask your guide about what museum you should see the next day, what bar you should hit after the tour or simply what is the best seafood dish you can find in Santiago.
Your experience includes:
1) Exploring El Golf neighborhood on a relaxing route through the center of what locals call Sanhattan for this area’s high skyscrapers, beautiful architecture and high-end designer stores.
2) Exploring the park that runs between Vespucio Norte and Vespucio Sur, which defines Santiago’s outer limits all the way around the city. We will make stop every 10-15 minutes to explain cultural idiosyncrasies that define “Santaguinos.”
3) Exploring the spectacular Bicentennial Park (finished in 2010) and its bike paths before following the Mapocho River all the way downtown at a gentle downhill pace.
Important Details
This tour does NOT leave from our office like the morning and afternoon bike tours. Rather it leaves from the subway station Metro El Golf on the red line. We meet in front of the Ritz Carlton Hotel 15 minutes before departure time. Don’t worry, we will send you more details when you make your reservation. At the end of the tour your guide will get you a taxi back to your hotel at your own expense. Otherwise, we will point you in the right direction to listen to live music, find good food or a glass of wine since you will already be downtown.
