Visit La Serena and Coquimbo, enjoying its history, preserved architecture, and natural beauty. Join us for a day tour to the mystical, surprising, and warm Elqui Valley and Isla Damas.

Day 01: Arrival - City Tour

Reception in Airport and transfer to hotel in La Serena. City tour La Serena / Coquimbo visiting the main attractions of both cities A spectacular vie of Coquimbo bay, the city and the port from the University of La Serena lookout, that will be an unforgettable memory of your stay in La Serena. Take a look at the beautiful gardens with trees that grow in abundances such as hibiscus, bougainvillea, and corona del Inca (Inca's crown).

We cover the Avenida del Mar area in which sophisticated buildings and tourist centers stand out from the rest of the city. We will see the typical maritime-commerce activity of the port during our tour along the Avenida Costanera (coastline avenue) and downtown Coquimbo. We finish in La Herradura (horseshoe) resort located in the mystic and legendary bay of Guayacán...Lodging.

Day 02: Elqui Valley and Mamamlluca Observatory

Full-day excursion to Elqui Valley; lunch included. Join us and enjoy a full-day tour of the mystical, warm and amazing Valley of Elqui. Positioned at a privileged point, dessert bounds in the north and vegetations bounds in the south, the tourist can feel and verify a pleasant sensation of energy ( recovery). It feels something like a warm atmosphere related to the mystic and esoteric activity. Many people assure that specifically, the Cochiguaz valley is the new geomagnetic center of the earth.

Then a visit to a Pisco production plant allows us to adopt a general approach to Pisco making, before returning to the road leading us to Vicuña, you will enjoy a Pisco tasting. Vicuña is the most important town in the valley and it´s also the hometown of our Nobel prize poet Gabriela Mistral.

You will also see the Baüer tower (former town council and a current symbol), the main square, and the church. Lunch in a typical restaurant, after having lunch we start descending the valley in order to visit the tomb of Gabriela Mistral and her childhood school-house.

Transfer and visit to Mamalluca Observatory; ticket included. The observatory itself has a dome in which an electronic telescope makes the observation possible for you to enjoy a pleasant night contemplation of the stars. Some pictures will be displayed and at the same time, an instructive talk about the Southern Hemisphere Star, in a nice and friendly atmosphere all the people will be encouraged by the astronomy of Galileo. After this talk , the night observation of stars, planets, galaxies will be carried out.

The southern hemisphere is essentially important for astronomy, that´s why four of the most advanced and best observatories are located in this mountains region of Coquimbo.Tololo, Pachon, La Silla, La Campana. Lastly, we return to La Serena after having enjoyed two hours of astronomical observations. Lodging.

Day 03: Isla Damas

Full-day excursion to Isla Damas; lunch included. We head for north through the Panamerican highway and cross a semi-desert-like area. The road continues on the sloping ground from where we can observe several views of the rocky coast.

We also will be able to see, from the road, a common dense glaze called “Camanchaca” A phenomenon occurring just some months a year, is the “full of flowers dessert”, If we are lucky we will appreciate it., after traveling 122 km., we arrive at Los Choros Fishermen´s wharf., a natural viewpoint to see Gaviota, Choros and Damas islands.

We will board a motor launch leading us to Humboldt Penguins National Reserve, which is part of this area, we will the “bottle-nose shaped” dolphins making jumps and pirouettes, we disembark from the motor launch in Damas Islands to appreciate its white-sand beaches. Return to the coast and lunch consisting of seafood and fish, in a typical restaurant. Return to La Serena accompanied by a spectacular sunset in the background. Lodging.

Day 04: Transfer

Transfer hotel to La Serena - Airport.
