After an 9am pick up from your hotel in Santiago, we head out of the city across the Maipo Valley and towards the Andes Mountains. It's surprising how quickly the grand metropolis of Santiago turns into countryside and busy avenues turn into small streets selling typical local produce.
Arriving at either San Alfonso or San Jose river base, we will meet our experienced skilled guides who equip us will all the rafting gear needed (wetsuit, helmet, paddle and life jacket) and go through technical and safety instructions with us. The Maipo River, flowing between steep canyon gorges and cutting through the heart of the Andes mountains, is a class 3 to 4 river (depending on snow melting) and therefore suitable for both first-timers and experienced rafters. We raft down the river valley, crowned by spectacular Andean Scenery and enjoy the rapids and the surroundings.
After our rafting adventure we enjoy lunch and have the opportunity to relax in a wonderfully large swimming pool with panoramic mountain views or doing a short hike in the surrounding vegetation. We are driven back to our hotel in Santiago late afternoon.
