Ahu Tongariki is Rapa Nui's largest sacred platform or "Ahu", and due to its location is the best place to watch the sun rise.
His moais were shot down in the island's civil wars, and in the 20th century the Ahu was swept away inland by a tsunami; since then it has been restored and has fifteen moais of approximately 86 tons, making it the heaviest built on the island.
Ahu Tongariki is close to Rano Raraku and Poike in Rapa Nui National Park.
