ALTIPLANIC ROUTE AND ATACAMA DESERT

DAY 1: ARICA (IN)-CODPA VALLEY

Meeting at Arica's airport (or hotel). We visit Azapa valley and its archaeological museum. Lunch. We continue driving south towards Codpa valley. Arrive at Codpa, a nice oasis village located in a deep canyon. We visit the church. Dinner and overnight in Codpa Valley. (L, D)

DAY 2: CODPA-PUTRE

We visit Ofragia’s petroglyphs, continuing to the road to the prealltiplanic villages. We visit Timar, Tignamar and Saxamar. Short trekking to “Quebrada escondida”. Box lunch. We continue driving to Belen, Chaquipiña and Zapahuira. A short excursion to Putre, an important village at the base of Tarapacá volcano, Bath in Jurasi hot springs. Hotel. (B,L,D)

DAY 3: PUTRE--CHUNGARA LAKE-SALAR DE SURIRE-CODPA

Full day excursion on the high plateaus., We get on the “altiplano” and visit Lauca National Park and lake. Later on, we cross several villages before getting astonished by the white beauty of Surire Salt flat. Lunch and thermal bath at Pollequere hot springs. We circle the salt lake and at the end of the day, we drive down to Codpa Valley for a nice rest. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: COLCHANE-LIRIMA-SALAR DE HUASCO-PICA

We take a mountain road over a pass at 5000m of altitude between Churuyo and Alto Chaviri. Then, we continue to Lirima village and Aguas Calientes hot springs where we have lunch and a nice bath. In the afternoon, we follow the road to Huasco Salt lake and finally to Pica Oasis where we spend the night. Relax in the natural swimming pool. Hotel. (CB,L,D)

DAY 5: PICA-CALAMA-SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

We visit La Tirana village, Humberstone ghost city, and Cerro Pintados geoglyphs. later on, we take the road to Calama, a Logistical stop. Lunch on the way.Transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. Excursion to the Moon valley at sunset. Arrival to San Pedro de Atacama. Lodging in an ecological House in San Pedro Oasis. (D)

DAY 6: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Full day excursion to Salar de Atacama, laguna Cejar and Altiplanic lagoons. Back to San Pedro. Astronomical tour at night. (B,L,D)

DAY 7: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Trekking to the Salty mountain range. Excursion to the Rainbow valley to have a look at its colorful mountains. Back to San Pedro. BBQ at the Oasis. (B,L,D)

DAY 8: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA-GEYSERS DEL TATIO.CALAMA

Departure from San Pedro de Atacama at dawn to reach Tatio Geysers del Tatio. We watch the Geysers and drive down to Calama visiting on the way, Campana, Lasana, and Chiu-Chiu villages. End at the airport or Calama‘s Hotel.
