The city’s many hills are a multi-colored panorama of painted houses crowding every nook and cranny that provide a spectacular backdrop and also ensure Valparaíso’s unique flair. There is a good reason why the historic city center of Valparaíso, with its fine 19th-century architecture, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The upper and lower sections of the city are connected by 15 funicular elevators that were built at the turn of the 19th century and still provide good service to this day. During your city tour, you will visit the Plaza Sotomayor’s memorial to the heroes of the Pacific War a nice boulevard with a spectacular view.

There is lots of live music in Viña, an elegant gambling Casino, fashionable nightspots, and bars. For those looking for a few quiet days away from the capital there are a lot of beautiful gardens and parks, and the art museum, the Museo de Bellas Artes has an interesting collection.
In the summertime, there are open-air classical music concerts and ballets are performed in an outdoor auditorium. In February there is an international festival of modern music.
